BKM Series High-Efficiency Helical Hypoid Gearbox (Cast Iron Housing)
Raydafon BKM cast iron helical hypoid gearbox is a 90° right-angle gearbox built on two larger base sizes, 110 and 130. Cast iron gives higher stiffness and better damping than the aluminium version of the same family, so the gear housing holds geometry under heavy continuous load and reversing duty. Power range 0.18 to 7.5 kW, maximum output torque up to 1500 Nm on the 130 base. Two-stage ratios 7.5 to 60 run at up to 92% efficiency, three-stage ratios 60 to 300 run at up to 90%. Gears are high-grade alloy steel, surface quenched and precision ground, with a hypoid gear set for higher single-stage ratio. Installation dimensions are fully compatible with the RV series worm gear reducers, so BKM drops into an existing RV mount. IEC standard input flange. Foot, flange and shaft output mounting available. Used in industrial robots, CNC machine tools, medical equipment, printing, agriculture, food processing and warehouse logistics.

Drop-in Replacement
Same Mounting Dimensions as RV Worm Gear Reducer
An existing RV mount can accept a BKM cast iron unit without redesigning the machine frame, and a machine originally specified with RV can later be upgraded to BKM without changing the plate, the shaft or the coupling.
Same mounting bolt pattern as RV series worm gear reducers
Same output shaft height and keyway position
Direct upgrade from RV to BKM without re-machining the frame
Reduces spare-part complexity for OEM machine builders
Supports mixed RV and BKM fleets with the same spare plate

Cast Iron Housing
Both base sizes 110 and 130 use a cast iron housing. Cast iron gives higher stiffness and better damping than the aluminium version of the same BKM family, which keeps the gear mesh stable under heavy continuous load and reversing duty.
Cast iron housing for base 110 and 130
Machined on a vertical machining centre in a single setup
Higher stiffness and vibration damping than aluminium
Better geometry retention under shock load
Gears and Shafts
High-grade alloy steel gears
Surface quenched for tooth hardness
Ground on high-precision gear grinding machines
Hypoid gearing for higher single-stage ratio
Rigid bearing arrangement for 90° output
05 · Specifications
Technical Specifications – BKM 110 / 130 Cast Iron
Cast iron is selected when the gearbox must hold its geometry under continuous heavy load or reversing duty, and when the machine frame already has the mass to support a cast iron unit. Common cases are CNC rotary axes, heavy mixers, hoists, and industrial robot joints with offset payload.
Heavy continuous load with limited cooling
Reversing duty with frequent direction changes
Offset payloads that stress the output bearing
Machines where the gearbox is bolted to a rigid cast frame
Where Aluminium BKM Is the Correct Choice
Medium-load axes without reversing shock
Machines with weight constraints on the drive
Compact installation space on packaging lines
General automation axes with standard duty cycle
Low unit-cost projects where mass is not required

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the cast iron BKM and the aluminium BKM of the same family?
Both versions use the same helical hypoid gear set and the same 90° output layout. The difference is the housing material. The cast iron version covers the two larger base sizes 110 and 130 and gives higher stiffness and better vibration damping, which keeps the gear mesh stable under heavy continuous load and reversing duty. The aluminium version covers the smaller base sizes 050 to 090 and is chosen when weight and unit cost matter more than mass.
What two-stage and three-stage ratios does BKM 110 / 130 cover?
Two-stage ratios cover 7.5 to 60 with efficiency up to 92%. Three-stage ratios cover 60 to 300 with efficiency up to 90%. Maximum output torque is up to 660 Nm on the 110 base and up to 1500 Nm on the 130 base. Custom ratios are available on request for OEM projects.
Can the BKM cast iron unit replace an RV worm gear reducer?
Yes. BKM 110 and 130 share installation dimensions with the RV series worm gear reducers, including the mounting bolt pattern and output shaft position. This means a BKM unit can drop into an existing RV mount or replace an RV unit as a direct upgrade without re-machining the machine frame.
What input interface does the BKM cast iron unit accept?
The input side accepts an IEC standard motor flange, so a standard three-phase or brake motor can bolt directly onto the gearbox. Custom flanges for other motor types, including servo motors, are available on request for OEM projects.
Which output mounting configurations are available?
BKM 110 and 130 support foot, flange and shaft output mounting. The base is machined on a vertical machining centre in a single setup, so the output mounting face and bearing bore stay concentric across all three configurations.
What is the warranty period and OEM lead time?
We provide an 18-month warranty from shipment date covering manufacturing defects, with full technical support. Standard BKM 110 and 130 models are stocked; custom OEM orders typically ship within 25–35 working days after drawing confirmation.
