BKM Series of 3-Stage High-Efficiency Hypoid Gear Motor
Raydafon BKM 3-stage helical hypoid gear motor is the high-ratio tier of the BKM family, with three gear stages stacked in a single housing. Ratios cover 60:1 to 300:1, which a 2-stage BKM cannot reach. Power range 0.2 to 7.5 kW and output torque up to 1500 Nm on the 1303 frame. Six frame sizes from BKM 0503 to BKM 1303 share the same helical hypoid gear family and 90° right-angle output layout. The helical hypoid gear pair offsets the output shaft at 90° and gives a higher single-stage ratio than a standard bevel gear while running smoothly under low-speed, high-torque load. Peak efficiency is up to 90%. Input accepts an IEC standard motor flange. Used on slow conveyors, mixers, hoists and rotary index tables where the drive must hold position between steps. OEM ratios, shafts, motor flanges and nameplate branding available.
BKM Series 3-Stage High-Efficiency Hypoid Gear Motor for Very High Ratios
The BKM 3-stage is the high-ratio tier of the BKM helical hypoid geared motor series. It uses three gear stages stacked in a single housing to cover ratios from 60:1 to 300:1, which a 2-stage BKM cannot reach. Each stage is aligned and pre-loaded at the factory, so the customer does not need to match two or three separate gearboxes or build intermediate shafts on site. A helical hypoid gear pair offsets the output shaft at 90° and gives a higher single-stage ratio than a standard bevel gear, keeping the housing compact while running smoothly under low-speed, high-torque load. Peak efficiency is up to 90%, and output torque reaches up to 1500 Nm on the largest frame.

Three Gear Stages in One Housing
01
First Reduction
Input stage takes the motor speed down to an intermediate speed. It carries the motor flange on the input side and takes the first step of the overall ratio.

Second Reduction
Middle stage continues the ratio build from the first stage output. This is where the 3-stage unit adds the extra ratio that a 2-stage unit cannot cover.

Third Reduction
Final stage takes the intermediate speed down to final output. The helical hypoid gear pair offsets the output at 90° and delivers the multiplied torque to the driven machine.

This product
3-Stage BKM
60:1 – 300:1
Three gear stages stack extra ratio into the same housing concept. The 3-stage version is the right choice when the required output speed is very low and the driven machine needs the highest torque at that speed.

06 · FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What ratio range does the 3-stage BKM cover?
The 3-stage BKM covers ratios from 60:1 to 300:1. This is the very-high-ratio window that a 2-stage BKM cannot reach, and it is used when the driven machine needs a very low output speed. Custom ratios beyond 300:1 are available on request for OEM projects.
What is the difference between the 3-stage BKM and the 2-stage BKM?
Both versions share the same helical hypoid gear family and the same 90° output layout. The 3-stage BKM covers ratios 60 to 300 with peak efficiency up to 90% and is used for very low-speed, high-torque axes. The 2-stage BKM covers ratios 7.5 to 60 with peak efficiency up to 92% and is used for general industrial drives where the ratio fits that window. Choose the 3-stage only when the required ratio is above 60:1.
Why is the 3-stage version slightly lower in efficiency than the 2-stage version?
Every gear stage adds a small amount of sliding friction loss. Because the 3-stage version has one more stage, its cumulative efficiency is 90% compared with 92% for the 2-stage version. The 3-stage version is chosen for its ratio coverage and torque level at very low output speed, not for its efficiency. If your required ratio fits the 2-stage range, the 2-stage version is the correct choice.
What frame sizes and power range does the 3-stage BKM cover?
Six frames cover the 3-stage range: BKM 0503, BKM 0633, BKM 0753, BKM 0903, BKM 1103 and BKM 1303. Power range is 0.2 to 7.5 kW and maximum output torque reaches up to 1500 Nm on the 1303 frame. Each frame shares the same helical hypoid gear family and 90° output layout, and differs in the power and torque window it covers.
Can the 3-stage BKM accept a servo motor?
The input side accepts an IEC standard motor flange for three-phase or brake motors by default. Custom flanges for servo motors are available on request for OEM projects. If you need a pre-assembled servo motor package, the BKM Series with Servo Motor page is the correct product.
What is the warranty period and OEM lead time?
We provide an 18-month warranty from shipment date covering manufacturing defects, with full technical support. Standard 3-stage BKM models are stocked; custom OEM orders typically ship within 25–35 working days after drawing confirmation.
