BKM HS Series of Shaft-Input High-Efficiency Helical Hypoid Gearbox

BKM HS Series of Shaft-Input High-Efficiency Helical Hypoid Gearbox

Raydafon BKM HS series is the shaft-input version of the BKM helical hypoid gearbox series. The input side is a solid keyed shaft for coupling to a belt pulley, chain sprocket or line shaft, instead of a hollow input with a bolt-on motor flange. Frames 050 to 130 cover 0.2–7.5 kW input power and up to 1500 Nm output torque. Two-stage ratios 7.5–60 run at up to 92% efficiency, and three-stage ratios 60–300 run at up to 90%. Frame 050–090 use die-cast aluminium alloy housings, and frame 110–130 use cast iron housings, all machined in a single setup to keep bearing bores and shaft seats concentric. Footprint and mounting dimensions are the same as the standard BKM, so it drops into an existing BKM mount. Custom input shaft diameter, keyway and extension length are available for OEM projects.

BKM HS Series Shaft-Input High-Efficiency Helical Hypoid Gearbox

Solid input shaft version of the BKM helical hypoid gearbox series. Built for driven machines where the input comes from a belt pulley, chain sprocket or coupling, not a direct bolt-on motor.

BKM HS series uses the same helical hypoid gear set as the standard BKM, but the input side is a solid shaft with a keyway instead of a hollow input with a motor flange. This lets the gearbox take power from a belt pulley, chain sprocket, coupling or line shaft on the driven machine, which is common on conveyors, mixers and industrial drives where the motor sits further away. Frame sizes 050 to 130, power 0.2–7.5 kW, and up to 1500 Nm output torque.

Five-Stage Power Path of the HS Shaft-Input Version

From the driving pulley on the input shaft to the output flange, the BKM HS unit passes through five functional stages. Each stage has a specific role in torque transfer and alignment.

01

Solid Input Shaft

Keyed input shaft takes power from a pulley, sprocket or coupling.

02

Input Bearing Set

Rigid bearing pair supports the input shaft under belt or chain tension.

03

Hypoid Gear Mesh

Hypoid pinion and gear set off the output at 90° with a higher single-stage ratio.

04

Helical Intermediate Stage

Helical gears continue the ratio reduction and keep the mesh smooth.

05

Output Flange / Shaft

Output flange or solid output shaft delivers torque to the driven machine.

BKM HS vs Standard BKM – What the Shaft Input Changes

Both versions use the same hypoid gear set and the same housing footprint. The difference is only on the input side.

This product

BKM HS Series

Solid input shaft version. Power enters through a keyed shaft from a pulley, sprocket or coupling. Used when the motor is mounted elsewhere on the machine, or when the machine uses a line shaft to drive several gearboxes at once.

  • Typical couplingPulley / sprocket / coupling
  • FootprintSame as standard BKM
Related product

BKM Standard Series

Hollow input with a standard IEC motor flange. The motor bolts directly to the gearbox, which removes the need for a separate coupling. Used when the motor sits next to the driven machine.

Typical Applications for Shaft-Input Gearboxes

BKM HS shaft-input units are used whenever the drive motor cannot be mounted directly on the gearbox, or when one line shaft drives several machines at once.

Conveyor Systems with Remote Drive

Belt and roller conveyors where the motor is mounted on the frame and the gearbox is driven through a belt or chain.

Line-Shaft Driven Machinery

Multi-station machines where one motor drives several gearboxes through a shared line shaft.

Packaging Line Auxiliary Axes

Secondary axes on packaging lines where the gearbox is driven by a timing belt from the main drive.

Mixers and Agitators

Process mixers where the motor is mounted separately on the vessel frame and the gearbox is driven through a coupling.

Woodworking Feed Axes

Feed rollers on woodworking machines where the motor sits above the machine and drives the gearbox by belt.

Food Processing Auxiliary Drives

Cleaning, dosing and transfer axes on food lines, with food-grade lubricant available on request.

Warehouse Sorting Machinery

Sorter transfer units and cross-belt drives where a shaft-mounted gearbox takes power from a line shaft.

Retrofit Drives

Replacing an existing gearbox on a machine where the input came through a shaft, not a flanged motor.

Quality Assurance and OEM Customisation

Every BKM HS unit is inspected for housing bore concentricity, gear tooth geometry, backlash, leak tightness and noise before packing. Material certificates and third-party inspection are available.

Quality & Testing

ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management from raw material to final assembly. Products comply with IEC, DIN and GB gear standards.

  • ISO 9001:2015 certified
  • IEC, DIN and GB standards
  • 100% backlash test

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about shaft input, BKM vs BKM HS, mounting and customisation.

What does "shaft input" mean on a BKM HS gearbox?
Shaft input means the input side of the gearbox is a solid shaft with a keyway, instead of a hollow input with a bolt-on motor flange. Power enters the gearbox through a belt pulley, chain sprocket or coupling connected to the input shaft. This lets the motor sit elsewhere on the machine, or lets one motor drive several gearboxes through a line shaft.
What is the difference between BKM and BKM HS?
Both versions use the same helical hypoid gear set and share the same housing footprint, frame sizes and torque range. The only difference is the input side. BKM standard uses a hollow input with a motor flange for direct motor mounting. BKM HS uses a solid input shaft for coupling to a pulley, sprocket or line shaft. Choose HS when the motor is mounted separately on the machine, or when the machine uses a line shaft.
What frame sizes and ratios are available?
BKM HS covers six frame sizes: 050, 063, 075, 090, 110 and 130. Two-stage ratios are 7.5 to 60 and three-stage ratios are 60 to 300. Power range is 0.2 to 7.5 kW and maximum output torque reaches 1500 Nm. Custom ratios are available on request for OEM projects.
What housing material is used on each frame size?
Frame 050, 063, 075 and 090 use die-cast aluminium alloy housings that resist rust and shed heat quickly. Frame 110 and 130 use cast iron housings for higher rigidity on heavy or shock-loaded axes. All housings are machined on a vertical machining centre in a single setup to keep bearing bores and shaft seats concentric.
Can the input shaft be customised for a specific pulley or coupling?
Yes. Custom input shaft diameter, keyway size, shaft extension length and taper can be produced on request for OEM projects. Provide the pulley, sprocket or coupling drawing when requesting a quotation so the input shaft geometry can be confirmed.
What is the warranty period and OEM lead time?
We provide an 18-month warranty from shipment date covering manufacturing defects, with full technical support. Standard BKM HS models are stocked; custom OEM orders typically ship within 25–35 working days after drawing confirmation.
