BKM Series of 2-Stage High-Efficiency Hypoid Geared Motor

BKM Series of 2-Stage High-Efficiency Hypoid Geared Motor

Raydafon BKM 2-stage helical hypoid geared motor is the high-efficiency tier of the BKM family, with two gear stages stacked in a single cast housing. Ratios cover 7.5:1 to 60:1 at peak efficiency up to 92%, which is the highest efficiency level in the BKM series. Power range 0.2 to 7.5 kW, output torque up to 1500 Nm. Six frame sizes from BKM 0502 to BKM 1302 share the same helical hypoid gear set and 90° right-angle output layout. The helical hypoid gear pair gives a higher single-stage ratio than a standard bevel gear and runs smoother and quieter. Input accepts an IEC standard motor flange. Used in conveyor systems, packaging machinery, industrial robots, food processing lines and warehouse logistics drives. OEM ratios, shafts, motor flanges and nameplate branding available.

BKM Series 2-Stage High-Efficiency Hypoid Geared Motor for 90° Right-Angle Drives

The 2-stage BKM is the high-efficiency tier of the BKM helical hypoid geared motor series. It uses two gear stages to cover ratios from 7.5:1 to 60:1 at up to 92% efficiency, which is the highest efficiency level in the BKM family. A helical hypoid gear set offsets the output shaft at 90° and gives a higher single-stage ratio than a standard bevel gear pair, so the housing stays compact while delivering smooth, quiet running under continuous industrial load. Power range is 0.2 to 7.5 kW and output torque reaches up to 1500 Nm depending on frame size. Typical uses include conveyor systems, packaging machinery, industrial robotics, food processing equipment and warehouse logistics drives.

How the Two Stages Work

Two gear stages are stacked in the same cast housing. The two stages are aligned and pre-loaded at the factory, so the customer does not need to match two separate gearboxes or build an intermediate shaft on site.

Stage 01 · Input

First Reduction

Input stage takes motor speed down to an intermediate level. Mounted on the input side of the housing, sized for the motor flange or solid input shaft.

Stage 02 · Output

Second Reduction

Output stage takes the intermediate speed down again to final output. The helical hypoid gear pair offsets the output at 90° and delivers torque out to the driven machine.

Ratio Build

7.5:1 – 60:1

Total ratio is the product of the two stage ratios. This gives fine step coverage across the 2-stage range, so the exact output speed can be matched without going to a 3-stage unit.

Efficiency

Up to 92%

Two stages mean less cumulative sliding friction than a 3-stage design, so efficiency stays at the highest level in the BKM family. This is why the 2-stage version is the preferred choice when a very high ratio is not required.

02 · Efficiency

2-Stage vs 3-Stage – When to Choose Which

The 2-stage BKM and the 3-stage BKM share the same housing concept and the same helical hypoid gear family. The difference is the number of gear stages and the ratio window.

06 · FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about stage selection, efficiency and OEM supply.

What is the difference between the 2-stage BKM and the 3-stage BKM?
Both versions share the same helical hypoid gear family and the same 90° output layout. The 2-stage BKM covers ratios 7.5 to 60 with efficiency up to 92% and is the higher-efficiency tier. The 3-stage BKM covers ratios 60 to 300 with efficiency up to 90% and is the tier for very high ratios and low-speed, high-torque axes. Choose the 2-stage version when the required ratio fits its range, and the 3-stage version only when a higher ratio is needed.
Why does the 2-stage BKM reach higher efficiency than the 3-stage version?
Every gear stage adds a small amount of sliding friction loss. Because the 2-stage version has one fewer stage, its cumulative efficiency stays at 92% while the 3-stage version drops to 90%. This is why the 2-stage version is preferred in continuous-duty applications where energy cost over the service life matters.
What is the ratio range of the 2-stage BKM?
The 2-stage BKM covers ratios 7.5:1 to 60:1. This gives fine step coverage inside that window so the final output speed can be matched without going to a 3-stage unit. Custom ratios are available on request for OEM projects.
What frame sizes are available in the 2-stage BKM range?
Six frames cover the range: BKM 0502, BKM 0632, BKM 0752, BKM 0902, BKM 1102 and BKM 1302. Power range is 0.2 to 7.5 kW and maximum output torque reaches up to 1500 Nm on the 1302 frame. Each frame shares the same helical hypoid gear set and 90° output layout, and differs in the power and torque window it covers.
Can the 2-stage BKM accept a servo motor?
The input side accepts an IEC standard motor flange for three-phase or brake motors by default. Custom flanges for servo motors are available on request for OEM projects. If you need a pre-assembled servo motor package, the BKM Series with Servo Motor page is the correct product.
What is the warranty period and OEM lead time?
We provide an 18-month warranty from shipment date covering manufacturing defects, with full technical support. Standard 2-stage BKM models are stocked; custom OEM orders typically ship within 25–35 working days after drawing confirmation.
