Raydafon BAD precision planetary gear units are the general-purpose tier of the planetary gearbox range, tuned for volume OEM supply. Helical planetary gears and a one-piece planet carrier give smooth torque transfer and stable alignment under reversing load. Ratios cover 3:1 to 100:1, standard backlash is ≤8 arcmin for single stage and ≤12 arcmin for two stage, single-stage efficiency reaches 96–98%, and IP65 protection plus lifetime synthetic grease reduce maintenance. Each unit ships with a bolt-on servo motor adapter matched to the motor flange and shaft. Used in packaging, labeling, general automation, material handling, woodworking and solar tracking. OEM ratios, shaft, flange and nameplate available.
BAD Precision Planetary Gear Units – Cost-Effective Servo Gearbox for Volume OEM
BAD precision planetary gear units are the general-purpose tier of the Raydafon planetary gearbox range. They share the same helical planetary gear mesh, one-piece planet carrier and lifetime synthetic grease as the BADR series, but are tuned for volume production, standard servo adapter interfaces and stable lead times. This makes BAD the right choice for packaging lines, gantry axes and general automation projects where low backlash and repeatable supply matter more than arcmin-level positioning.

Where BAD Fits in the Raydafon Planetary Range
The Raydafon planetary gearbox family is split by backlash tier and positioning accuracy. BAD is the volume OEM tier. BADR and BAE target higher precision. BAF and BPG target high-rigidity servo axes. Choose BAD when you need stable supply, low unit cost and repeatable positioning.
This product
BAD
General-purpose precision, standard backlash ≤8 arcmin, volume OEM supply, standard servo adapters.
Tighter tolerances and lower noise for medical, inspection and high-repeatability axes.
High-rigidity tier
BAF / BPG / BPGA
High-rigidity servo gearboxes for heavy-duty CNC, robotics and continuous reversing duty.
Single-Stage and Two-Stage Configuration
Single-stage BAD units cover 3:1 to 10:1 and give the highest efficiency. Two-stage units extend the range to 100:1 for heavy loads or slow precise axes, at a small efficiency cost.

Four Design Features That Keep BAD Stable in Volume OEM
These four points are what separates BAD from low-cost planetary units sold without factory testing or a matched motor adapter.
01
Helical Planetary Gear Mesh
Helical teeth engage progressively rather than at a single point. This spreads torque across multiple teeth in mesh, reduces vibration, and keeps noise low even at high input speed. Compared with straight-cut gears, the contact ratio is higher and the mesh is quieter.
02
One-Piece Planet Carrier
The planet gears ride on a single machined carrier instead of a welded or bolted assembly. This keeps the three planet gears aligned under reversing load, prevents tooth misalignment, and extends service life in start-stop duty cycles.
03
Matched Servo Motor Adapter
Each BAD unit ships with a bolt-on adapter machined to the servo motor flange, bolt circle and shaft keyway. There is no need to modify the motor or the gearbox to make them fit, which shortens commissioning time and eliminates alignment errors on the line.
04
Lifetime Synthetic Grease
BAD units are filled with synthetic grease and sealed at the factory. Under normal operating conditions, no oil change or re-greasing is required during the service life of the unit. This reduces maintenance load on packaging, printing and general automation lines.

Typical Applications
BAD precision planetary gear units are used wherever a servo motor needs more torque or lower output speed and the positioning demand is at standard backlash level.
Packaging & Converting
Filling, sealing, labeling, cartoning and film tension lines.
Send the driven load, required output speed, servo motor drawing and backlash class. Raydafon will confirm the ratio, stage count and adapter.
Step 01
Load & Speed
Provide the driven load torque, inertia and the required output speed. This defines the ratio and stage count.
Step 02
Backlash Class
Standard ≤8 arcmin covers most automation. If the axis needs tighter positioning, choose the BADR precision tier.
Step 03
Motor Adapter
Send the servo motor shaft diameter, flange size, bolt circle and keyway drawing. Raydafon will match or machine the adapter.
Quality & Testing
Every BAD unit is tested for backlash, noise, vibration and no-load running before packing. Test reports and material certificates are available.
ISO 9001:2015 certified
100% backlash test
Noise and vibration check
Full traceability
Third-party inspection on request
Custom & OEM Options

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about backlash, ratio, motor compatibility, service life and OEM supply.
What is the difference between BAD and BADR planetary gear units?
BAD is the general-purpose tier with standard backlash ≤8 arcmin, tuned for volume OEM supply and standard servo adapter interfaces. BADR is the precision tier with backlash ≤3 arcmin for CNC, robotics and inspection axes that need tighter positioning.
Can BAD match my existing servo motor?
Yes. BAD gear units ship with a bolt-on adapter that matches the servo motor flange, bolt circle and shaft keyway. Raydafon stocks adapters for Siemens, Mitsubishi, Yaskawa, Delta, Panasonic, FANUC and other major brands.
Is BAD suitable for frequent reversing?
Yes. The one-piece planet carrier keeps the planetary gears aligned under reversing load, which protects the mesh during frequent start-stop and direction-change cycles on packaging, labeling and indexing lines.
Does BAD need oil changes?
No. BAD units are filled with lifetime synthetic grease and sealed at the factory. Under normal operating conditions, no lubrication maintenance is required during the service life of the unit.
What is the protection grade?
Standard protection is IP65. Higher IP ratings and food-grade grease are available on request for washdown or food-contact applications.
What is the warranty period and OEM supply lead time?
We provide an 18-month warranty from shipment date covering manufacturing defects, with full technical support. Standard BAD models are stocked; OEM orders typically ship within 20–30 working days after drawing confirmation.
